Pia's Birthday...9 April

Every year since Pia's birth, I have made it a point to celebrate her birthday as best as I can. She is my miracle baby, after all, and every year of life, is another year she defied the death sentence that was given to her on her birth day.

This year, we were going to do something different for her birthday, instead of having a big bash, we were going to Destin, Florida for a vacation. She loves travelling and has really earned it this year with all the hard work she has put into her own education.

She was very excited about this trip. Even though she's been on plane rides before, she doesn't remember them, so this plane ride was an adventure she was particularly excited about. I was excited about going, only because she was.

Unfortunately, we had two separate situations that were emergencies and expensive. This put a major cramp into our travelling plans. As much as I wanted to go, I had to think about what we would now have to do to celebrate her big day, instead, especially on such short notice. We explained to her the change in plans, and as usual, she was accepting.

There just wasn't enough time to invite everyone we knew, and all her little friends, so we would have a few little parties instead. On Friday, I took a cupcake cake and cookie cake for her mainstream and Deaf/HOH class. She loved that all the kids celebrated in each class and each sang Happy Birthday to her. That evening, we had a carne asada BBQ with the whole family, and again, we sang Happy Birthday, and she opened presents, of course. Lastly, for her, the Coup de grĂ¢ce, going to the FUN FACTORY on Saturday! She loved it, and you guessed it, we sang Happy Birthday, again!

Today is Sunday, and I'm exhausted, but it was totally worth it. She had a great birthday weekend and got to celebrate her birthday with practically every she knows. I've been blessed 9 years in a row.

My little girl is 9. Yay!
